Christmas Eve Allt a'Mhuillinn

This started out as a "let's-see-how-far-we-get-on-this-cold-dreich-day" stroll from the North Face car park at Torlundy and ended as a fabulous walk that took us above the cloud to just below the north face of Ben Nevis. The superb path alongside the Allt a'Mhuillinn made it easy going in the cold, frosty conditions. When we stopped for a break a few hundred meters before the CIC hut I found it most bizarre that the light breeze was now distinctly warm! I guess we had come through the sinking cold air and into the warmer air above. It's not often the temperature goes up the higher you get! We probably met only about half a dozen others out - we were all well rewarded for heading through the clouds. Photo credit - Andrew's new toys of camera and wee tripod.

Walk 11 Chalamain Gap

Sue A, Pete, Andy, TC, Fiona, Vikki (and very sadly off the bottom of the pic Scally, Misty and Meg)

Wow that was a "blast"! We left home intending to walk up Bynack More but found it a bit difficult to stand up in the car park at the start - so being the sensible, provaricating bunch we were, we went to the base station cafe to "consider" the matter. Suitably considered we headed for the Chalamain Gap, got blown up a scramble to the crag to the north and headed back down to the occasionally sunlit forests of Rothiemuchus, Loch Morlich and the Squirrel Cafe at Glenmore for hot chocolate heaped with cream. All more than suitable, and hopefully the day met Vikki's request for something "exciting and dangerous"! Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to walking with you all again - any combination welcome.
