SCRA visits the Royals

Thought I'd better get one of me with a bunch of Rangers as I'm working with them for a year. This was taken by my "boss" Niall while SCRA was being shown the delights of Ballachbuie Forest, Balmoral. It brought back memories of C-n-Do days as I remember having tea and cakes here on a walk with them many many years ago.

Carrbridge to Aviemore via Kinveachy

What a magnificent walk! The wonders of through walks can never be under-estimated, so thanks very much to Susan B for transporting us to the start at Dalnahaitnach and Scotrail for getting us back to Inverness. Sue, Susan and I set off under clear blue skies and enjoyed a gentle pull up the Kinveachy hills west of Aviemore. The only slight hurdle was the very impressive and apparently insurmountable deer fence right across our intended route. However a handy stile a few hundred meters away led us straight onto our path down through the trees emerging at the north end of ever-expanding Aviemore.

Walk 20 Not Meall nan Tarmachan

I had hoped I'd be joining Fiona and the Highland Hillwalking Club gang for Fiona's last Munro while at the Club's Crianlarich weekend. But no, Lorna and I wimped out and instead did a very pleasant circuit of Ben Lawers Nature Trail - where the photo is taken - and then walked in to meet the others who had braved the storm-force winds and managed Meall nan Tarmachan in record time. This allowed lots of time for cakes and drinks and laughs and fish and chips and cakes and drink and ...

Fiona, thanks for an excuse for a great weekend.
