Walk 26 Meall na Teanga

Saturday 28 April
Yet another perfect day in the Scottish hills - even more so as we are in Lochaber. This walk was extra special as it was Tulla's first Munro! Abi's young spaniel, Tulla, made the steep climb up from Loch Lochy look so effortless and provided Sue, Abi and I with endless entertainment. The views from the hills were magnificent - Loch Linnhe, Knoydart, Ben Nevis and a hint of Kintail all glowing in the sunshine. We shared the summit of Meall na Teanga with the "radio man" who had carried his receiving equiment up with him and spent all his time in deep conversation about signal strength and such like. Thanks to another anonymous photographer for the photo. And sorry everyone for the peely wally legs.

Half way - at last!
Thursday 12 April
This feels like a real landmark - making it to 25 walks has brought a real sense of achievement. And coincidently this is my first Fab50 over the 3000' or 914m mark. Lynnette and I were treated to a wonderful day - yet again - with views as far as Ben Nevis and the Lomond Hills. As the photos show I still haven't quite got the timing right for the camera - can you spot our two pairs of eyes in the first attempt? Lynnette's ability to tiptoe at speed across the boulders meant we got the "proper" photo. Never mind us - the view is still spectacular. So only 25 to go ... sounds easy!
Sorry forgot to say where we were! It's Schiehallion, of course.

Wetherlaw with Kim
Monday 2 April.
We are a bit out of sequence here but never mind - it's just a sign of the way things are. Kim and I walked and scrambled our way up Wetherlaw whose summit is 2503 feet (according to the only map I have of the Lakes). This knobbly hill is just North-West of Coniston and gave us clear views of the Langdales and the Cumbrian coast on a beautifully sunny day. We saw surprisingly few people - a real contrast to the full-to-bursting Snowdon a couple of days later.

Snowdon - Brownies all round!
Wednesday 4 April 2007
We were SO lucky! We could not have asked for a bluer sky, calmer wind or more perfect temperature for our walk up Snowdon - the highest Fab50 yet. Wendy, Mark, Fran, Dave, Matthew, Shona, Catriona, Andrew and I enjoyed an exceptional day from start to finish. In the morning we grabbed the last two parking places in the Pen y Pass car park and at the end of the day some of us feasted on chips and hot chocolate in the cafe - grand grub for recovering from our big day out.
We might not have had champagne for our summit festivities - we had better than that! Andrew's brilliant brownies were the incentive to get to the top and were the perfect way to celebrate our unforgettable achievement.
Thanks to everyone to coming - and a special thanks to Wendy for suggesting Snowdon. I'm sure your dad was with us too Wendy.
