We did it! The Final Fab50 as planned

Thursday 6th September. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped us get here! Lorna, Andrew, Pap (my personalised teddy who came along to represent the Virden family), Sue and I could not have asked for a better day for our scaling the Pap of Glencoe on the very day of my 50th. It's been a wonderful year - so wonderful that you all may just be asked to take part in it all over again for the even Fabber Fab51 - starting today!!!

49a My local trig pillar

A bit of an extra this but every bit a Fab50 - thank you Janet and Mike for leading me through the gorse to this trig pillar on our local hilltop - Cnon an h-Eireachd, all 107m above the Beauly Firth.

Number 49 Almost done - Ben Wyvis on a bl***y blowy day

Saturday 1st September

Today's outing was a real Fab50 in so many ways. With a real mixed bag of friends, (in the nicest possible way!) Elaine, Fae, Tommy, Vikki and Charlie and Toby (the latter two being four-legged friends) we battled our way up the steep face of Ben Wyvis from Garbat into cloud and ever strengthening winds. Elaine and Fae were Munro virgins but showed amazing determination in the face of the poor conditions and Elaine dragged herself up to the cairn on An Cabar. Fae and Toby and I sensibly took refuge in our wee shelter-bag-thing while the others did what they had to do. On my way down I met Maggie from Mugdock making her way up with a friend - amazing who you meet in the mists. Thanks to all of you for making the last-but-one such a good day as the photo shows. (On the second attempt at a photo I'd just sat down in a very cold wet bit of mud, yuk!).
